Interior Design Colors for Summer 2024

Any discussion of Interior Design Colors for Summer 2024 means that summer must be at hand. What is not to love? The timeless lyrics of “The Summer Wind” from Johnny Mercer always bring a smile:

“The summer wind, came blowin’ in from across the seaIt lingered there to touch your hair and walk with meAll summer long we sang a song and then we strolled that golden sandTwo sweethearts and the summer wind.”

Putting the frothy sentimentality aside, let’s dive into a few summer colors.

Sarah DiMarco  is an associate editor at VERANDA. In that role she covers design, architecture, and art, amongst other subjects. Sarah recently put together a great post where she told us that:

“Color experts are predicting that people will be much more adventurous with their color choices with bright pinks, playful aquas, and rich browns leading the charge. Of course, neutrals will never go out of style, but they are warming up with buttery and blush tones rising in popularity. All experts also agree color will be more personal than ever in the coming years.”

Perhaps the single most important take away from that comment is the personal nature of color selection. Why not? Shouldn’t personal spaces inspire personal selections? Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute says:

“Color is a language and as such plays an elemental role in personal self-expression. Some will be turning to bold colors but others will be looking to softer neutrals and calming pastels. There are no rules, it is really about how one feels on any given day and what resonates at the moment.”

We can narrow down this potentially unwieldy topic by focusing on just a few cool colors.

Blue Is For You

Blue Nova – Benjamin Moore

Let’s be serious. Blue never goes away. One year it is a Navy color value. The next year we might be looking at a light Marine blue. This year, Blue Nova from Benjamin Moore, is certainly an example of a saturated and powerful color. Think of it in terms of a feature wall and the wide range of pairing that offers.

Passionate Pink

Pink Ground – Farrow and Ball

Pink can be a little scary. It is a color that can move a design plan a bit too far towards softness. Immediately above is Pink Ground from the UK paint manufacturer Farrow and Ball. We will let  you decide.

Green Gusto

Viridis – Graham and Brown

In our view, it is quite difficult to go wrong with a green value in your design scheme. Another UK paint company, Graham and Brown,  is offering this olive toned green, Viridis, for your consideration. It can be construed as aggressively moody, or as simply evocative.

Yellow Memories

Bella Muro Ceramic Tile – Marble Systems

Is it the “yellowing” of old newsprint that pairs memories with this color? Who is to say. The rich yellow above in ceramic tile from Marble Systems appears to the eyes as both clean and lush.

Why Not White

Royal White Marble – Marble Systems

The term “summer whites” takes on a different meaning when the white in question is a bright, clean marble. As you can see immediately above, the clear white flooring from Marble Systems works nicely with both a stark black and a light wood .

Color With Grout

Our epoxy grout offers a wide range of benefits that make it an attractive option for all  tile installation projects. In addition to the wide color selection, there is also durability, stain resistance, waterproofing capabilities, chemical resistance, and color stability that set it apart from more traditional grout materials, making it a preferred choice for both residential and commercial applications. There you have it. Interior Design Colors for Summer 2024.
